Campaign Against CVS Moves Forward

After successfully pressuring CVS stores in Philly (and across the country) to unlock condoms in their stores and make them easily accessible to customers, the Cure CVS Campaign is taking on CVS about another public health issue: expired products.

The Campaign found that CVS was selling expired products (including food, medicine & infant-care products) in Philadelphia stores. This poses a health risk to the communities who are buying these products, and the Cure CVS campaign believes that the problems with Philadelphia stores are part of larger pattern. Their website, www.cureCVSnow.org states that, "According to the results of a 14-month investigation, CVS actually fails to provide equal and fair access to its services based on analyses of several key measures... in several key markets, CVS stores in lower income areas and communities of color are more likely to violate local health codes than stores in affluent or mostly white areas."

Now, the Cure CVS is working with members of City Council to pass regulations for the sale of expired products. See the press release below.
