I have met this group and they have a sincere grievance on the PPA, just like taxi drivers do. Do you think this agency represents the City of Brotherly Love? Do you think your car should be towed for $150 plus ticket when 6 officials from the PPA watched you park in an illegal space and not one told you not to, and while one hides behind a pole calling a tow truck parked around the corner waiting for you to leave?

The Coalition of Immokalee Workers' Modern Day Slavery Museum came to Philadelphia earlier this month, as part of a nationwide tour to raise awareness about the recent cases of farmworker slavery that have surfaced in Florida and elsewhere. Shakoya Patterson, a member of Philadelphia Student Union, visited the museum and interviewed Oscar and Romeo, who are both farmworkers and members of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW).

In January of 2010, the Poverty Initiatve, a group based in New York that aims to reignite Dr. Martin Luther King's Poor People's Campaign, visited Philadelphia for an immersion tour. The tour highlighted the history of the struggles of poor people in this city. Willie Baptist and Liz Theoharis, of the Poverty Initiative,  shared stories about the struggle of the homeless in 1995 and 1996.
