NY Lawmakers passed a bill that requires overtime pay and at least one day off per week for over 200,000 nannies and domestic workers across the state of NY. This bill comes after years of successful organizing and lobbying by Domestic Workers United (DWU), which has workerd to pass the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. The last step is for Governor Patterson to sign it into law, making New York the first state establishing rights for household workers.
