Packed Public Hearing at City Hall for HB 1914

Thanks to everyone who came out to the public hearing last Friday March 19th at City Hall.  MMP was there along with representation from every group in MMP.
My head was spinning from the excitement of finally having our public hearing, and I don't remember everyone who was there.  I do remember seeing Carol Rogers from Healthy Philadelphia, members of Philaposh and I found out later that Philaposh's director Barbara Rahke was there.  Jobs For Justice was there.  And 50-100 drivers, I don't know.  Lance Haver was there and spoke last.  There are many other; sorry sorry sorry I cannot recall.  Thank you very much.
Every driver who was there was paying  a cab lease, paying for parking, and missing out on one of the busiest days.  All of the labor union people were there in spite of AFL-CIO PRESIDENT Richard Trumka leading a jobs rally across the street.
We had sent a mass email telling everyone, including the media that we were holding a rally afterwards at 12 noon, and then joining AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka in having a rally for jobs and to damand the banks to help this economy more!  But the public hearing went into overtime, and many of us did not get out until 1:30 PM.  Does anyone know how many drivers showed up at 12 noon beeping their horns?
And of course many from the disable community were there, and they don't take no crap from anyone.  Thank God they are on our side!
We were very fortunate that at the last minute, Chairman Thomas rearranged the meeting agenda to save time.  Originally, the PPA and the medallion owners had the last say.  Our panel wound up speaking last and this gave us more ammunition to counter-argue and address the classic reasoning of those who exploit labor. The wheel is constantly reinventing itself.  Did anyone throw up?
Now we have a much more intensive job ahead of us in lobbying the House and the Senate.  It is critical that we have Republican support in the Senate.  Why can't we do it?  The state needs to save money here and there in these times, and Workers Comp for cab drivers will save the welfare money used to cover drivers medical bills from injuries suffered on the jobs.  Workers Compensation is the only right an injured worker has.
DOES ANYONE HAVE PICTURES TO SHARE?  I WANT TO REMEMBER AND SAVOR THIS DAY.
