Taxi Workers Alliance on Trial

http://www.metro.us/us/article/2010/04/23/01/2204-85/index.xml   When the President of the Taxi Workers Alliance of PA was found not guily on all counts in a criminal trial, it wasn't over.  The Taxi and Limo Division of the Philadelphia Parking Authority refused to meet with him, and the organizing commitee, thus, refused to meet with them without Ron Blount.  Imagine Jim Ney, as the King of England, before  the war of independence, "We'll try him in our courts".

Their attempts to suspend his license and silence the leader failed again. Thursday, April 22nd, a hearing was held at the headquarters of the TLD-PPA and ALL thought he would be found guilty by a Judge employed by the TLD-PPA.
A packed courtroom, and the longest trial (2+ hours) ever held at the taxi (sic) "gestapo" headquarters, the Judge found Ron not quilty of assualting his passenger, whom testified and was driven and courted by giggling-turned-ready to rumble  taxi inspectors surrounding her long legs and snobby elitist demeanor.
Ron was found guilty of not accepting a credit card, which the Judge described as having mitigating circumstances that could possibly reduce the fine.

The courtroom was packed with Ron's supporters, some forced to turn in laptop computers before the trial started, and the Judge remarked how he thought he was the most popular up until this day.

Coincidently, Ron's taxi certificate expired on the same day, so he was escorted by a mob to the issuance office, where smiling clerks, not all of the PPA's employees supported this action after the last trial, promply processed his taxi certificate.

Bravos to Attorney Mark Kirby; he had persistedly been on-call to help Ron keep driving when the TLD-PPA tried three  times to suspend Ron during the time leading up to the criminal trial, and for his defense of Ron in this final stand.  Bravos to  Judge Alfred Marriotti, who is paid by the TLD-PPA, for his integrity and for his concerns  in past trials of other drivers too.  Bravos to the Media Mobilizing Project for their passion in sharing their expertise in getting the word out and being there.
