Tonight is the fourth annual MMP Community Building Dinner, our yearly celebration of our leaders, organizations, network, and all the organizing, study and communicating we are doing together. We wish the whole world could be there, but our network is big and our space (and budget) are small, so for those who cannot join us we will be posting highlights over the next few days. For the first time, he is working side by side with labor unions towards a common interest. Communities are on the frontline,he said, because budget cuts would have an immediate impact on the ground in local communities. Baltimore March 27th-29th, 2009 An upcoming conference will focus on developing a nationwide strategy to organize for cities that work for people not just for capital. There will be a focus on creating conversations between activists, analysts of the current financial crisis, and academics (and of course those who fit more than one label). As short as the left is on funding for think tanks, this event is aimed at a long standing need. We're particularly excited about one of the organizers United Workers out of Baltimore

Wachovia Foundation's Neighborhood Planning Workshop (Jun 24) The Wachovia Regional Foundation is again offering a series of workshops aimed at helping neighborhood activists through the steps of developing a neighborhood plan. Participants will learn how to identify the challenges, opportunities, and synergies that commonly emerge during a neighborhood planning process. Attending the workshop is particularly important if your organization is considering developing a neighborhood plan or applying for Wachovia Regional Foundation' Neighborhood Planning Grant. Workshops will be held in Philadelphia on June 24th and in Trenton on June 26th.<!--[if !vml]-->
